In these disruptive times transforming oneself is the key to success. So Disruptions can come from any direction whether its health like as we are experiencing now a days in form of Corona. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has suggested global growth could be cut in half as a result of the virus. We’ve already seen massive disruption to supply chains, and the widespread closures of schools and workplaces past few months, whether voluntary or enforced.
Infact disruptions are not new, it is a natural phenomenon. We all have also faced many crisis situation in the past. This I suggest four steps which can help us in transformation and managing such disruptive situations:
Acceptance – Very First step is to accept and realize the existence of any problem without it we cannot go ahead in the process of transformation.
Understanding – We must understand the importance and depth of the problem
Analysing – This is the most important and little bit complex since we need to see and find out the exact place where the problem exists or we may have to breakdown in fractions for our ease. We need to find out the gaps.
Finding the Solution & having plan of action – Solution/s must be identified for each gaps or obstacles and have plan of action for the same.
This article focuses on gap analysis. There would be an obvious question that while discussing on gap analysis why we are talking about the above process of improvement. The answer is, if we go deep into the matter, we will find that behind most of the problem, gap is the only factor
Gap means the difference between the things or the situation or the status which ought to be and they actually are. In every part of life it is only gap that hurts us.
If you are an entrepreneur and running a business organisation and the status of your organization is lower than that you planned because of the disruption, then this Gap must be a pinching factor for you. The desire where you want to see yourself (no matter in which field you are) is called the Goal and the where you are right now is the current situation. Hence whenever we talk of the gap, we simply mean the gap between the current situation and the goal. Ultimately achieving the series of goals is the success! Entrepreneur need to plug the gap by identifying the key obstacles and focussing the solutions of these obstacles and taking the actions. For example if her organization is facing lower demand due to disruption then one can increase the demand by reaching to the newer prospects or talking to the past clients or diversification or reducing the pricing or may be something out of the box solution like BCCI did by launching IPL in 2008 when the world faced financial crisis.
Now we talk of friendship. When a friendship can be good and reliable? The answer is when the basic thought process on various issues is similar. Friendship among the persons having similar views on maximum issues is normally good and never ending. As the differences of opinion increases, gap between the friendships arises and we get restless. If you sit with your friend, analyse the difference and try to bridge the gap, again friendship is in place and that is called reconciliation and results happy social life!
Now we come to personal life and the relationships. Let us talk of the most common relationship i.e. husband and wife – If your expectation from your spouse is much higher than how your spouse actually is, than your family life may be disturbed. Same way is case of the relationship between parent and the kids. Bridging the gap within the relationships is nothing but happy family life!
In this article we have discussed the gaps arising in various aspects of life. If we are able to bridge the gaps successfully, no doubt we are going to a beautiful life! In the next article I will discuss about the attitudinal obstacles.
